Dad's Chili

This is my Dad's Michigan Chili recipe. He would always add diced banana peppers from our garden. It was pretty hot when he made it, as we never watered the garden like we should. I adapted it a bit to make it milder, so the kids would actually eat it. We like to serve it over Fritos and topped with cheddar cheese.

Pancakes

Ingredients

  • 1lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 3 stalks of celery, diced
  • 1 packet of McCormick's Chili Powder Mix
  • 1 can kidney beans
  • 1 can petite diced tomatoes
  • 1 large or 2 small cans of Bush's Chili Beans
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 Tbsp of minced garlic

Directions

  1. In a large Crockpot, add the ground beef, onion, celery and bell pepper.
  2. Cook until the ground beef is thoroughly cooked and brown.
  3. Add the rest of the ingredients.
  4. Cook for 4hrs on high or 8 hrs on low.
  5. Serve over Fritos and top with shredded cheddar cheese.
